Last week, The New York Times printed this article about schools that had purchased laptops for all students, but were now choosing to back away from this program due to a lack of evidence that the computers were increasing student achievement in any way.
The blogosphere has been active on this topic, with some students defending the value of using laptops, and other bloggers wondering if a lack of teacher training might be the real issue.
If technology isn’t the cure for what ails us, what is?

Thanks for linking to my blog. I might clarify though that my post was not trying to defend laptop programs, but rather just trying to share what my students thought.
I don’t know if I would say that technology is a cure, but certainly changed schooling practices could make technology hugely benefician on student learning and experiences.

I reworded the post to say that your students were the ones defending the value of using laptops — hope you find this change palatable, and thanks for chiming in.
