Academic Contests For Students

With the new school year now well underway, I’d like to finally get back to blogging, beginning with an open invitation for people to check out the math, science, and social studies competitions found at www.academicleagues.com.  As noted in my about the author section to the right, I run that website, and it played host to 20,000+ students from around the world during the 2006-2007 school year. This summer, I (along with some collaborators) have been working diligently to prepare for another great year of contests.  Here are some details of what we are offering for the 2007-2008 school year:

  • We offer fun, challenging 2nd-12th grade math, 3rd-8th grade science, and 3rd-8th grade social studies contests.
  • All of our competitions can be taken online from our website; they may also be taken as paper/pencil tests if so desired.
  • Students participating in our competitions take three contests which are spread out throughout the school year, keeping students motivated to improve all year.
  • Students’ scores from these contests can be instantly uploaded to our website’s results pages.  This makes for an incredibly exciting competition, as your students can see their own names and scores and their competitors’ names and scores appear online in real time!
  • Free sample tests are provided at www.academicleagues.com/samples.asp.  Even if you aren’t planning on joining our competitions, why not snatch our sample tests as in-class challenge material for your students?
  • Awards are provided to high-scoring teams and individuals.  Every team that registers for a competition automatically receives 2 medals and also gains access to certificates that are made available for all participants.
  • In addition to school teams, individuals are also eligible to participate, making our contests perfect for homeschooled children.

It costs just $80 to enter any one of our grade level competitions, and this one-time fee enables all of the students in that grade level at your school to compete in all three of our contests throughout the year.  Individuals may register for the entire year for just $30 per subject/grade level.

For more information, please check out our site at www.academicleagues.com!
